Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
