Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
